In a video shared on YouTube by AIT, General Dambazau stated that sometimes when an officer gets appointed as COAS ahead of his seniors, it can create tensions. He revealed that when he was appointed, he approached his senior colleagues who were holding other key appointments at the time and offered them the choice to stay or leave the force. He said they expressed their willingness to work with him, and he agreed to let them stay until the next promotion cycle. He said this decision fostered mutual respect and they worked together harmoniously without any issues.
