Ahmed Maiyaki, a former spokesman for the Kaduna State government, has responded to the choices to move the corporate headquarters of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) and a few divisions of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) from Abuja to Lagos. CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>

During an appearance on Arise TV, which was also carried by Sahara Reporters, Maiyaki said that most of the CBN staff are children of political elites who schooled abroad in the United Kingdom, America, and they are back in Abuja which is their comfort zone and they do not want to move out of Abuja.

Maiyaki’s statement came after the Northern elders kicked against the relocation of some CBN departments and FAAN headquarters to Lagos. The Northern elders that if President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is interested in getting the votes of Northerners in the 2027 election, then he should reconsider the decision to relocate the CBN departments and FAAN corporate headquarters to Lagos.

The Northern elders said that the moves are aimed at crippling the socio-economic activities of the North.

Maiyaki said that the Northern elders have the right to share their views on issues, but he believes there are more critical challenges facing the North that the Northern elders should focus on.

He said, “Let’s take an example, for me as a Northerner, I believe strongly they are speaking to protect their own interest because if you check from 2019 – I challenge these leaders – we should have agencies of government like the CBN to publish the names of people that were secretly recruited.

“Most of these children are children of the political elites. These are children that have schooled abroad in the UK, in the, you know, New York. And they are back in Abuja in their comfort zone and they do not want to move out of Abuja.” CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
