CBN Relocation: According To The Records, 409 Staff Of The CBN Are Moving To Lagos– According to Ahmed Maiyaki

Ahmed Maiyaki, a former spokesperson for the governor of Kaduna State, offered his opinion on the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) headquarters move in a recent interview with Arise TV. According to Maiyaki, the move from Lagos to Abuja took place in 2020 under the leadership of Hadi Sirika, the previous minister of aviation. The subsequent relocation to Lagos, he said, was a return to the original and more operationally ideal site. In her discussion of the relative dominance of domestic and international flights in Lagos over Abuja, Maiyaki emphasized the strategic importance of FAAN’s operations being in line with the main aviation hub. While expressing criticism towards the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF), Maiyaki found fault with their warnings about the 2027 election, deeming them premature in the current year, 2024. He advocated for a “New North” that prioritizes the interests of the common man over political considerations. Maiyaki called for a shift in focus towards issues directly impacting the populace, emphasizing the need for a region that safeguards the welfare of its citizens.

He highlighted the practical aspects of the relocation, stating that it was aimed at enhancing efficiency, especially in supervising banks and carrying out specific functions. Referring to the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) relocation, Maiyaki acknowledged the movement of 409 staff to Lagos but noted the transfer of an equivalent number to other branches in Abuja and various locations.

He said, “According to the records, 409 staff of the CBN are moving to Lagos. But we are not talking about other staff who are of the same numbers that are being posted back to other branches of the bank in Abuja and other locations.” CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
