Despite Buhari’s attempts to dissuade him, Dalung emphasized in an interview with Channels TV the risk he took by going into the Niger Delta’s creeks. He claimed to have told Buhari that he was prepared to risk his life for the nation.
In Dalung’s words: “[Buhari] tried to discourage me from going to the creeks, I told him 3 things will happen to me. I will come back alive, I will be kidnapped or I will be killed. Then he asked me but why would you want to take that risk and I told him I can lay my life for this country.
