Buhari Told Me He Will Eliminate All Bandits Leaders But People Around Him Were The Problem -According to Dalung

Solomon Dalung, a former minister of sports, has said that at a meeting with the former president Muhammadu Buhari, the latter expressed his desire to remove all bandit leaders. Buhari, however, blamed those around him for the difficulties. As a former general, he claimed to have pleaded with Buhari to act decisively in response to the growing security concerns. He said that in response, Buhari promised to address the issue of insecurity and asked for continuous, honest input. He noted that subsequently when he was granted another appointment, it was allegedly dismissed as a mistake, signaling a strained relationship between him and the President.

He said in an interview with Channels TV, ”I drew the attention of President Buhari to the fact that this is not what we campaigned for and told Nigerians. And I was appealing to him to take drastic steps and deal with this insecurity issue. Because he is a retired general and if he cannot deal with this insecurity in Nigeria, I don’t see anybody coming to deal with it. And the President assured me to do that and he appealed to me to please kindly always come around to tell him the truth. But that was the last time I saw him. Even though I prophesied to him this would be the last time I will be seeing him. Buhari told me he will eliminate all the bandits leaders but people around him were the problem.
