A large portion of the event, including video of her being put in a police car holding cell, was shared by Minaj on social media. She conversed with a police officer in a video posted on Instagram Live, and the officer said she was in possession of drugs.
In a video clip, Nicki Minaj can be heard saying, “I’m not carrying drugs. I’m not going in there; I need a lawyer present. I need a lawyer present now. Where am I going?” A police officer responds that she has to go to the police station and that they will work with her to ensure she can make it to her next show in Manchester. Minaj then asks, “What am I doing? Oh, so I’m under arrest? Under arrest for what?”
As authorities asked Nicki Minaj to stop filming, she was placed in a vehicle holding cell. It’s unclear what happened at the police station, but Minaj was reportedly released from detainment.
