Bello stated that his father finds it tough to compromise and has a principled and determined attitude to decision-making in an interview with Seun Okinbaloye on Mic On Podcast. He pointed to a number of distinguished administrators, his father among them, that he thought were influential leaders. Among the people he mentioned were Mohammed Sanusi II, Dora Akunyili, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, and Nuhu Ribadu.
In Bello’s words: “[My father] is highly flawed in many areas, sometimes he can’t fathom compromises. If it is that way, it is that way and sometimes there is a need to bend. But pound for pound, in terms of administrators we have had, the likes of His Royal Highness, Mohammed Sanusi ll, the late Dora Akunyili, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Nuhu Ribadu in EFCC, Adeshina, Nasir-El-Rufai, Charles Soludo. When you see leaders like that in a country that lacks leaders who actually make difficult decisions, how won’t you side with them?
