Bello brought up the fact that governors have the ability to misuse their authority, even in the current federal police structure, during an interview with Seun Okinbaloye on Mic On Podcast. Bello discussed how, as the son of a governor, he could simply arrange police escorts with a single phone call, based on his own personal experience. He asked people to think about the shortcomings of the current system and the necessity of progressive adjustments.
In Bello’s words: “I was son of a Governor, whenever I needed police escort, I make one phone call and I will get it. Isn’t that abuse? And what does it say about us as citizens when we keep electing leaders who we think will use progressive law to abuse? Laws are not perfect, they are meant to be amended and adjusted.
