According to the Northerners, the US and French governments have allegedly been pressuring Nigeria and other countries to sign new defense treaties that would allow them to redeploy soldiers ejected from Mali, Burkina Faso, and Niger. They voiced concern that Nigeria, as the most strategically positioned of the Gulf of Guinea countries, will succumb to this pressure, risking its defense and domestic security, while noting their failure to battle terrorism in the Sahel.
Bashir Ahmed responded to the news via his official X account, stating that they were correct. He claimed that the US and France’s presence in Africa had done more harm than good and that is why many countries have chased them out of their territories.
Bashir said and I quote;
“Those eminent northerners are right and speak for virtually every northerners on the matter. The US and France presence in Africa has done more harm than good.
