Solomon Dalung, the former Nigerian Minister of Youths and Sports, admitted bluntly in an interview on Channels TV that he lived in hotels and drove his car for three and a half years while serving as a minister because he didn’t have a house. He asserted that accusations of “monumental looting” are not accurate in depicting the state of the nation’s insolvent economy and that the administration has not been open about it. He further notes that Buhari had to make sacrifices as a minister and that he too inherited a bankrupt economy when he was elected president.

He said, “The National Security Advisor should desist from creating panic among Nigerians. This is not about the time they are talking about it. If they inherited a bankrupt economy, we are hearing stories of billions of money being shared by Ministers. The transfer of 40 billion in four days. These monies are coming from where? In a bankrupt economy, we are having this type of allegations of monumental looting going on for just 6 months. That doesn’t explain a bankrupt economy. It explains being economical with the truth. So the National Security Advisor should come clean, the government should come clean and tell it in any case. Buhari himself inherited a bankrupt economy. As a Minister, I spent three and a half years in my own vehicle, I was staying in a hotel, and I didn’t have a house. In a year, instead of 12 months monthly subvention.
