Arsenal had a great start to the game and had numerous opportunities, but they were unfortunate not to take the lead. Soucek gave West Ham United the lead, which they maintained for the duration of the first half. Arsenal’s goal is to rebound more forcefully in the second half. West Ham is a strong counterattacking team that Mikel Arteta’s team shouldn’t ignore because it could lead to additional goals in the second half.
However, Arsenal had the worst VAR decision against them in the first as Soucek’s goal shouldn’t have stood. A review of the situation shows that a significant part of the ball was out of play before Bowen hit the pass to Soucek who pokes it home to give West Ham the lead. But VAR awarded the goal.
