In a recent report by The Sun, Apena explained that Fubara wasn’t very active in the PDP before the feud with Wike. He said Fubara even ignored the PDP Governors Forum, where he was supposed to be deputy chairman, however when the feud with Wike started, Fubara turned back to the party for support. He said key members of the party are now supporting Fubara to end the influence of political “godfathers” in the state.
Apena expressed optimism that if Wike decides to join the APC, prominent politicians like Tonye Cole and former Governor Rotimi Amaechi might switch back to the PDP and this would mean losing one member but gaining several others.
