Renowned Nigerian journalist and Arise TV host Rufai Oseni has shared his deep sorrow at the sudden death of Rotimi Akeredolu, the governor of Ondo state. Governor Akeredolu, 67, died quietly in Lagos, according to the tragic news of his passing that was announced today. Extending his condolences, Oseni reflected on Governor Akeredolu’s resilience in the face of a challenging health condition. He noted that the late governor fought a commendable fight against leukemia, showcasing a spirit of determination and courage.

“God rest his soul. During the interventions as regards to the political situation that erupted in Ondo state between him and his deputy governor, even when we condemned the actions of some people trying to keep him up because of his health, we constantly prayed for his quick recovery. It’s not that God doesn’t answer prayers, God answers prayers but it was time for Aketi (Gov. Akeredolu) to go. He had fought the good fight, he had fought this for a while, a couple of months ago, there were rumours of his death but then he came back and fought cancer even more. I got a chance to meet him once, a man beaming with a lot of smiles, a lot of ideas. He made his own mistakes in life, we are all prone to make out mistakes.
