Ajaero "You keep Talking Of Cost Reflective Tariff In A Place Where There Isn't Energy Availability

Joe Ajaero, President of NLC, has had the opportunity to express his opinions on the recent rise in energy rates that has been making headlines in Nigeria. He claimed that although Adelabu Adebayo, the Minister of Power, hasn’t done much to push for cost-reflective tariffs from electricity users, he still emphasizes them. He made it plain that the minister of power should stop emphasizing the cost and instead concentrate on enhancing the services because there isn’t a steady supply of electricity. Mr, Joe Ajaero also said that there is a heavy reliance on gas which is the major generator of electricity in Nigeria at the moment. He asked why are other natural generators of power like Solar and Hydro energy not being used to tackle the issue of power instability in the country.

Quoting some of his words from an interview he had with Arise News Television today, he said: “The most pertinent question is on how the Minister Of Power is arguing about cost reflective tariff, we ask him what have you done to deserve cost reflective tariff. What happened to the service reflective tariff and which cost are you charging, is it the cost of the merited salary of the Chief Executives in the industry that you are demanding or their luxurious appetites? The Gencos are telling you that they aren’t paying them and you are talking about cost reflective tariff in a place where you don’t have energy availability.
