After Watching An Old Video Of Ganduje Saying How Corrupt People Should Be Treated Chidi Anselm Odinkalu Reacts

Prof. Chidi Anselm Odinkalu, a human rights activist and lawyer, responded to an old video of Abdulahi Ganduje, the former governor of Kano state, discussing what can be done about corrupt individuals. CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>

The former governor of Kano state made the suggestion that financial crimes and corruption should be treated as non-bailable offenses in a widely viewed video that he posted on his official X handle on Saturday. According to him, giving corrupt people bail won’t make the fight against corruption any easier.

Ganduje said;

“Some laws in Nigeria allow offenders of corruption and financial crimes to be bailable and this situation does not help the fight against corruption. If a suspect standing trial for the offense of corruption is sure of his or her freedom when arraigned before a court of law, the fear of committing corruption is diminished. Moreover, an accused person standing trial for corrupt offense with his liberty and freedom can adopt every available means to frustrate the prosecution of the case. In this respect, I recommend that the offense of corruption and financial crimes should be made non bailable in our courts”.

However Odinkalu has now reacted to the statement that was made by the former governor of Kano state. In the post that he shared on his page, he said sometime in the post, Ganduje was against corruption. CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
