President Muhammadu Buhari’s digital communication assistant, Bashir Ahmed, voiced his unhappiness and dissatisfaction with Nigerians who accused him of fabrication and ethnic bias following the apprehension of renowned kidnapper Chinaza Phillip. He said, “I was deeply unhappy when some people accused me of fabrication because of purported tribal bias when I shared a story about the capture of the infamous Abuja kidnapper, Chinaza Phillip. Speaking further in his post on Twitter, Bashir Ahmed stated that he holds no prejudice against law-abiding individuals of Igbo origin or any other tribe, pointing out that his post about Chinaza Phillip is not an act of prejudice. He added that we all have to work together—Igbo, Hausa, and Yoruba—to put an end to insecurities in Nigeria.

According to him, “When are we going to stop defending or justifying criminal acts simply due to tribal affiliations? I was profoundly disappointed when, after sharing a story about the arrest of the notorious Abuja kidnapper, Chinaza Phillip, some individuals accused me of fabrication due to alleged tribal bias. I hold no prejudice against law-abiding individuals of Igbo origin or any other tribe. I understand that criminality has no tribe.
