The Police Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, made a statement earlier in which he said that the bandit, identified as Bello Mohammed, was apprehended in a hotel in the Tafa region of Kaduna and that 2.25 million naira had been discovered on him. He claimed that the funds were likely the result of ransom payments he received from his abducted victims.

According to the statement, he said that following his arrest, the suspect tried to bribe the police officer who arrested him with one million naira, but the officer turned down his offer.

He made another chilling revelation, saying that Bello Mohammed was part of the gang that killed Nabeeha, the daughter of the legal practitioner who was kidnapped earlier in the year.

Part of the statement from the Police PRO read, “The operatives of the Nigeria Police Force, on 20th January 2024, have arrested one Bello Mohammed, 28, of Zamfara State, in Kaduna.

“The Divisional Police Officer, Tafa Division, acting on intelligence, raided one hotel in Tafa Area, Kaduna, where he arrested Bello, with the sum of N2.25m (two million, two hundred and fifty thousand naira) only, suspected to be proceeds of ransoms collected from kidnapped victims within the area.”

He further added, “The suspect, in a dramatic situation, offered N1,000,000 (one million naira only) to induce the DPO, who rejected the offer and carried out his duty diligently.”

In his reaction, Shehu Sani said that the area where the suspect was arrested is a notorious place for kidnappers in Kaduna, and that the police officer who raided the hotel and arrested the suspect deserves to be commended.

He said, “The police arrested a major kidnapping kingpin in a hotel in Tafa, Kagarko LG, Kaduna State, after rejecting a financial inducement from him. The police deserves commendation for this act. For your knowledge, Kagarko is a major kidnapping hotspot in Kaduna State that borders Abuja.” CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
