After Atiku Said He May Support Obi In 2027 If PDP Picks Obi As Flag Bearer, Lauretta Onochie ReactsAtiku Abubakar, the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) nominee for president in the 2023 election, has hinted that he would back Peter Obi should his party allocate the 2027 presidential ticket to the South-East should Obi be selected as the nominee. A few days ago, Atiku Abubakar had hosted Peter Obi at his residence in Abuja, and the meeting between the two former presidential candidates had sparked speculations about possible collaboration ahead of the 2027 election.

During an interview with BBC Hausa Service, which was also carried by Vanguard on Saturday, Atiku said that an alliance between the PDP and the Labour Party is possible, adding that the two parties can merge to achieve a common goal.

Atiku said that if the two parties merge and it is decided that Peter Obi should be the presidential candidate, then he won’t hesitate to support him.

He said, “If the party decides that it’s the turn of the South-East and Peter Obi is chosen, I won’t hesitate to support him.”

In her reaction to the development, Lauretta Onochie said her prayer is that Atiku should step down for Peter Obi. She said if that happens, then it would be easier for the All Progressives Congress (APC) to win the re-election in 2027.
