He argued that Ighodalo’s comment shows a lack of understanding about the value of hard work and the humble beginnings of many successful leaders. He cited the example of President Lula of Brazil, who started as a panel beater and rose to become the President of the National Union of Metal Workers, and eventually the President of Brazil. He criticized Ighodalo for not understanding the dignity of labor and for being overly focused on “boardroom affairs”. He stated that Ighodalo is out of touch with the common people and that their candidate, on the other hand, has a strong connection with the working class.
He said in a live coverage by TVC, ”Asue Ighodalo said a whole former governor that I’m promoting a panel beater. Can you see the insult they want to wreck on our candidate? Although he claimed to be educated but he’s not well learned enough to know certain things about little beginnings of leaders in the world. He should Google who is the President of Brazil today. President Lula was a panel beater and he rose to become the President of National Union of metal workers in Brazil.
It was just like I became President of Nigeria Labour Congress. And from there Lula contested to be President of Brazil. He was elected President and he served his term. The right wing tried to harass him but a comrade never gives up. Today Lula the panel beater is back as President of Brazil. And today Brazil is making aircraft, they are making ultramodern equipment. They are moving from third world to first world.
