Nevertheless, as the elections in Edo State and Ondo State draw near, Shettima expressed unshakeable faith in Prof. Mahmood’s leadership.
Drawing comparisons between Mahmood’s tenure and those of past INEC heads since 1999, Shettima highlighted Mahmood’s unparalleled achievements. He remained resolute in his conviction that Yakubu’s accomplishments would endure despite the dissenting opinions.
In an interview with The Sun, Shettima remarked, “Despite the propaganda against the INEC Chairman, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, he has performed creditably well. I have 100 percent confidence under the leadership of Prof Mahmood Yakubu because he has done well and he will still do well. No person that has headed the INEC institution has done what he has done or performed better than him since 1999 till date. Please tell us since 1999 when it happened that out of two sets of elections held on the same day, one set could be uploaded and the other would suffer “glitches” while being uploaded?
