Yahaya Bello, the governor of Kogi State, has vehemently denied any involvement in any attempt to elude the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and demanded proof of any invitation that was sent to him. Contrary to assertions by the EFCC, Bello asserted that he had never received any invitation for questioning from the anti-corruption agency. He criticized the EFCC’s declaration of him as wanted without prior invitation, calling for transparency and accountability in the process.

In a statement, Michael highlighted Yahaya Bello’s unwavering resolve against any wrongdoing and his readiness to cooperate with lawful procedures. He challenged the EFCC to publish any purported invitation sent to Bello after his tenure ended in January 2024, urging the agency to provide concrete evidence of their claims.

The statement by Michael reads partly: “Let it be known to all that Alhaji Yahaya Bello is not afraid of the EFCC, he is not a fugitive running from the law. All he demands is that the rule of law be respected.
