He said that large-scale infrastructure projects are not as important as the urgent need for basic security to protect citizens from ongoing threats and bandit kidnappings.

Yusuf underscored the gravity of the situation by highlighting the recurring tragedies of mass student abductions, which have become distressingly common.

He criticized the government’s failure to effectively rescue abducted students as emblematic of a broader security failure in the region.

According to him, the inability to address these security challenges underscores a significant lapse in governance priorities, as citizens continue to grapple with the pervasive threat of violence and insecurity.

He said in an interview with Arise TV, ”There are three main problems we see in the North, pervasive insecurity, excruciating poverty, and hunger in the land. The state and federal government have failed to secure our people for them to go to their farms, they are not asking for much.

Speaking further he stated that, “Our people are not asking for Lagos-Calabar highway where you spent N15.6Trn. 56% of the National Budget was spent on that project while our people are being taking hostages every time by Bandits.
