During a meeting with members of the Afenifere, the Yoruba Socio-Cultural organization, at the State House in Abuja, President Tinubu outlined his administration’s approach. He stated that his government is focused on restructuring Nigeria’s finances to enhance citizens’ purchasing power and promote widespread prosperity.

Tinubu highlighted the implementation of a credit system aimed at removing cash barriers and significantly improving the standard of living for all citizens. He emphasized the importance of retooling and revamping economic opportunities while steadily advancing towards these objectives.

The President underscored the challenges faced by parents in educating their children and cited the establishment of the National Student Loan Programme as a response to this issue. Additionally, he acknowledged the pressing issue of unemployment and outlined plans to provide social security and allowances for the unemployed.

Furthermore, Tinubu discussed initiatives such as the Consumer Credit Scheme, aimed at boosting citizens’ purchasing power by removing upfront cash requirements for major purchases like cars and houses. He emphasized that reducing cash transactions would decrease the likelihood of fraud and corruption across the country.
