This development was revealed by DAILY POST, which noted that the suggestion was first communicated to Ganduje by Senate President Godswill Akpabio. The appointment is said to be a strategic move to distance Ganduje from ongoing corruption charges in Kano.

Ganduje, who assumed the role of APC National Chairman on August 3, 2023, following Senator Abdullahi Adamu’s resignation, was reportedly displeased with the offer.

According to the report, Ganduje expressed dissatisfaction and rejected the idea, arguing that the corruption charges against him were baseless and that he intended to clear his name in court. He reportedly questioned why his loyalty would be rewarded with such an offer.

“Is this the way the president will reward my loyalty? Besides, I am too old to go for an ambassadorial posting. All the charges are tissues of lies, and I will win my case in court,” Ganduje was quoted as replying to Akpabio.

The report further revealed that President Tinubu later personally informed Ganduje about the diplomatic posting, allowing him to choose any country in Africa. However, other sources stated that the president might have initially offered Ganduje three options across Africa, Asia, and Europe. Among the countries considered was Chad, where Ganduje previously served as the executive secretary of the Lake Chad Basin Commission.

Despite the diplomatic offer, Ganduje is reportedly making efforts to remain in his current political role and has been vocal about his dissatisfaction with the proposed appointment. He is reportedly lobbying senior party members, including Chief Bisi Akande, and has indicated a preference for Morocco over Chad if he must accept the posting.

In addition to the ambassadorial offer, it has been reported that Ganduje has been informed of President Tinubu’s approval for the APC to conduct its National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting and a mid-term non-elective national convention.

Ganduje’s spokesman, Edwin Olofu, confirmed the approval for the NEC meeting and convention but stated that he had not been briefed about the ambassadorial offer.

Olofu stated that while he was not aware of the ambassadorial appointment, the party had formally requested a date for the NEC meeting, which has been set for September 12, 2024. The non-elective convention is also scheduled for later in the year, as per the communication received from the Presidency.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
