According to Olaka Nwogu: 'If You Don’t Want Them To Continue Their Tenure, You Should Simply Conduct Elections

Rivers South-East senatorial district’s senator Olaka Nwogu has offered a solution to ease political tensions between the departing local government chairmen and the governor of Rivers State.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>

In an interview with Channel Television, Nwogu urged Governor Fubara to conduct elections if he don’t want the local government chairmen to benefit from the extension of their tenure. He emphasized that the governor have enough time to conduct the local government election.

However, Nwogu also expressed concern over attempts to replace elected officials with caretakers, which he believes is unconstitutional. He commended the State Assembly for taking steps to prevent this from happening, making it impossible to supplant elected representatives with unelected caretakers.

“If you don’t want them to continue their tenure, to benefit from any extension, you should simply conduct elections. There was enough time to conduct elections. There’s still time to start the process of election,” Senator Nwogu emphasized.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
