It should be mentioned that, in keeping with the spirit of Ramadan, the presidential candidate for the Labour Party in the 2023 election went on a trip through several Northern states, drilling boreholes for residents who had been without water for a long time.
The borehole projects have been attracting mixed reactions from members of the public and some concerned groups, with some saying that the borehole projects were not “presidential.”
While reacting to the criticism from people, Mahdi Shehu said that the Northern politicians who are not happy with the boreholes that Peter Obi is constructing should hide their heads in shame.
He said that Obi’s borehole project did not come with fanfare, and added that the project is one that saves lives and reduces cases of diseases.
He said that the borehole project was an intervention that came from Obi’s pocket.
He said, “In Sokoto, Bauchi, Niger and many other locations, several people died while struggling to collect toxic, one off palliative. What a shame! Others went home with various degrees of injuries and trauma with no palliative for succour.
“Obi’s borehole commissioning was seamless, organized, no fanfare, no ego massaging. Nothing. Just an out of pocket intervention. Northern politicians who are not happy about Obi’s borehole project that saves lives and minimizes diseases incidences should hide their heads in shame.
