He also criticized irresponsible media reports that sensationalized the abduction by disseminating exaggerated figures, highlighting the lack of factual basis and the potential to sow panic and misinformation within the community. He argued that some individuals seeking to exploit conflicts for their own agendas are not happy about the children’s release.
He said in an interview with Arise TV, ”I was expecting everyone to be jubilating like the parents but people were asking how they were released. Was there any battle between the military and the bandits? For us in Kaduna, what is more important is that our children are back home. I didn’t even ask so many questions because I was eager to receive them from the GOC of the Mechanized division who has been extremely very helpful to us.
I believe in our Armed forces, they told me no ransom was paid. So we should thank God and for me, my priority as a governor is to get my children back. When these children were abducted, people who had no idea about Kaduna, who had no idea about the community, and have never made an effort to ensure that the people were released went to the media with a very irresponsible senseless number of 287 numbers of children kidnapped. For me, that statement is the height of irresponsibility.
