According to GEJ 'Wike and Gov Fubara Must Work Together to Develop the Land and the People of Rivers State'Former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan stressed the value of cooperation between Rivers State political leaders during the Trans-Kalabari Road flag-off. Jonathan made the observation that effective cooperation between Governor Sim Fubara and Honorable Minister Nyesom Wike is essential in the situation of Rivers State in a video released by TVC. He warned that any tension could have detrimental effects, not only on Rivers State but on the entire Niger Delta region, given its critical importance to the country. The former president emphasised that transitions in governance, particularly at the state level, often encounter issues that need to be managed for the greater good. Jonathan highlighted the necessity for outgoing and incoming governors to work together for the collective interest of their citizens.

According to him, “Transition in Nigeria is becoming a problem. At the centre, presidents have taken over from presidents. There are always issues, but at least it is better managed. But at the state level, it is becoming noisy in so many states, and I feel that is not the best. Outgoing governors and incoming governors must know that they work together for the collective interest of the citizens of the state, and that is critical because you must work together. In this case of Rivers State, Hon. Minister Nyesom Wike and Gov. Sim Fubara must work together to develop the land and the people of Rivers State. The tension will not help us; Rivers State is very critical in this country. Rivers State is the heart of the Niger Delta.
