Minister of Solid Minerals Dele Alake has revealed Bola Tinubu’s response to the passing of Late Chief MKO Abiola. Alake related how Tinubu, who was in the US at the time, called him to confirm the sad news of Abiola’s death in a video that TVC released. Alake said he then told Tinubu that he needed to return to Nigeria because he was a key leader in the fight for democracy, and that is what Abiola would have wanted. He said Tinubu eventually heeded this advice and returned to Nigeria to continue his leadership role

And I told him that he had to come back home because he was a leader, a leading light of the struggle for democracy. And I said that is what MKO would have wished.
