In an interview with AIT, Lloyd expressed his determination to stand his ground despite alleged intimidation tactics. He criticized Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s handling of the situation, suggesting that better leadership could have prevented the current turmoil.

“All this time, the governor has portrayed himself as the victim, but today he has shown the world that he is indeed the aggressor,” Lloyd asserted. “If I were in his position, I would have ensured peace and avoided any disruptions. However, the Chief of Staff was threatening me to stay away from my local government. I am not one to shy away from challenges.”

Lloyd drew a parallel to a quote from popular culture, stating, “It reminds me of what Don Michael once said, ‘the more I try to pull away, the more they draw me back into what I tend to forget.'”

Despite the temporary appointment of a Head of Local Government Administration (HLGA) to oversee operations during this period, Lloyd reiterated his claim as the rightful council chairman.
