According to Clark, When Emefiele Took The New Notes To Buhari, It Was Buhari Who Said He Should Use Local Printer

Papa Elder statesman and Ijaw leader Edwin Clark asserted that prior to his intervention, former CBN Governor Godwin Emefiele was planning to manufacture the new naira notes abroad. Instead, he advised them to use a local printer. He said that the decision was influenced by the relationship between Mr. President’s in-law and the managing director of the local printing company. He provided clarification on the claims made by Emefiele that he approached President Buhari again for approval and that former Finance Minister Zainab Ahmed was not aware of the redesign of the naira. He said these in an interview with Channels TV.

In his words, “Perhaps nobody knows about this, Emefiele was to print this new currency abroad. When he [Emefiele] took the new notes to Buhari, it was Buhari who said he should use a local printer. Because his wife’s brother was the managing director of those who printed these money. So it was Buhari who did it.
