Abuja is not solely held by Northerners, according to Auwal Musa Rafsanjani, Executive Director of the Civil Society Legislative Advocacy Center, despite the fact that Northern states physically encircle the Federal Capital Territory. He emphasized how common it is for underprivileged Northerners to reside in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). He brought up the fact that the original occupants of Abuja had been evicted, which begged the question of why discussions about the city, including the transfer of the CBN’s crucial headquarters to Lagos, were centered on the North. He said in an interview with Arise TV, ”Many Northerners that you find in the FCT are disadvantaged Northerners roaming the streets and begging. These are the populations that you see. And the original inhabitants of Abuja have been pushed away by the system, I don’t know even know why this cry is about the North.
Abuja is not owned by the Northerners even though it’s surrounded by Northern states. But the political insincerity in the country has brought about unnecessary suspicion. So instead of us to face the insecurity that is worrying the country, the poverty that is worrying the country, the inflation that is worrying the country.
