Atofarati’s ambition is to surpass the existing GWR in the category, which stands at 94 hours and was set by Fragoso, a web developer from New York, in 2016. Speaking with journalists in Ado Ekiti, Atofarati expressed optimism about being certified as the new record holder, citing meticulous adherence to the guidelines outlined for the challenge.

“We are optimistic of being recognized as the new record holder because all the prescriptions outlined in our Personal Guidelines were meticulously and diligently followed,” Atofarati stated. He further mentioned that all necessary evidence had been prepared in real-time and would be submitted to GWR for verification within the next 72 hours.

In addition to the personal achievement, Atofarati plans to celebrate his success by making a charitable gesture. “By tomorrow (Tuesday), I will be making the first appearance in Ilawe Ekiti where I will be celebrating the success with about 100 widows,” he shared, indicating a commitment to giving back to the community.

Reflecting on the 120-hour TV watching marathon, Atofarati asserted that the experience had enhanced his knowledge base, making him better informed about global events. He suggested that the exercise had added value to tourism benefits in Nigeria, thanking various individuals and entities for their encouragement and support, including Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, Senator Biodun Olujimi, and the Director-General of Ekiti State Bureau of Tourism Development, Amb. Wale Ojo-Lanre. While awaiting the official certification from Guinness World Records, Atofarati expressed gratitude to those who supported him during the challenge, including community leaders, government officials, and his wife, Mrs. Orobosa Atofarati.
