The claims made by former PDP National Publicity Secretary Debo Ologunagba and House of Representatives member Ikenga Ugochinyere have been rejected by Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory. Wike criticized the comparisons drawn between him and Ugochinyere, calling them unfair. He questioned why Ugochinyere’s name was even mentioned in the discussion and highlighted his pivotal role in advancing Ugochinyere’s political career. Wike rhetorically asked who supported Ugochinyere’s campaign and secured his PDP ticket, emphasizing that his contributions should earn him recognition, not criticism.

“Let me remind you for the record,” Wike said, “Who gave Ugochinyere a ticket to run under the PDP? Who sponsored his election? Why would I be dragged into someone else’s personal issues?”

He also rejected the notion that he should criticize Imo State Governor Hope Uzodinma, with whom Ugochinyere has clashed. Wike stated that he would not allow others’ disputes to dictate his political stance.

“Respect us,” he said firmly. “When we are talking about significant issues, we don’t discuss trivialities. For Christ’s sake, how can you even compare me to Ugochinyere? It’s unfair. You have a problem with Hope Uzodinma, and now you expect me to quarrel with him? What kind of nonsense is this? I won’t do it.”
