Obaseki: Adams Oshiomhole, He Is Like An Old Goat Whose Children Have Left Him In The Cold

Adams Oshiomhole, the former governor of Edo State, has voiced concerns on remarks made by Olaye, the chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), in Edo State. According to him, Olaye, the head of the local government, has threatened to proclaim there would be unrest in the event that their candidate, Asue Ighodalo, is not recognized the winner of the next election, indicating a firm attitude from the group. Reflecting on Governor Godwin Obaseki’s political journey, Oshiomhole mentioned their previous election battles, noting how Obaseki won in 2016 and 2020. He highlighted the governor’s movement from the APC to the PDP and the resulting division within the PDP, which he believes has left Obaseki politically isolated. According to Oshiomhole, this realization of limited chances for victory may explain the recent turn towards violent rhetoric.

He said in an interview with Arise TV, “The NLC chairman, who is the local government leader, Olaye has already announced that whatever happens at the polling booth, if their candidate, Asue Ighodalo is not declared the winner, Nigeria or Edo will burn. They have already said that. So by force, they must be declared the winner. And so, if they take that violent path, they cannot sign to peace because they do not believe in peace. They have made it clear: if their candidate is not declared, Nigeria will burn. He (Godwin Obaseki) was under Federal might. He won the election in 2016; we ran against each other. In 2020, he won against with Federal might.

This time, he’s talking up because with his eyes open, when we denied him the ticket in APC, he went to PDP. He went there and destroyed the PDP, split it. They now have what is called Legacy PDP. This is his Deputy Governor who has left to join the opposition. It’s like an old goat whose children have run away, and now he’s in the cold. He’s like an old goat whose children have left him in the cold. There’s nothing you’re going to tell him. He knows there is no miracle for them to win, and that’s why they are resorting to violence here and there. They know there’s no miracle for them to win, so they resort to violence.”CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
