According to Salako, she and her husband had agreed to separate temporarily due to their divergent political affiliations. Her husband had expected her to support and work for the same political party he was affiliated with during the general elections. However, Salako chose to follow her own beliefs and convictions.

In her own words, Salako stated, “Me and my husband always had arguments about politics, and I always tell him that I will follow what I believe in. The members in the Labour Party didn’t trust my husband because they were doubting if he was engaging himself in anti-party activities.”
