“To probe Wike, how can you as Governor right now who served as DFA and permanent secretary also in charge of funds and made the Accountant General of the State? How can you absolve yourself from the probe?” Okocha asked.
Okocha’s comments come as Governor Fubara has announced plans to probe his predecessor’s administration, citing allegations of corruption and mismanagement of state funds. However, Okocha believes that the Governor’s involvement in the probe raises questions about his neutrality.
The APC chairman pointed out that if Wike is invited to a panel and calls Governor Fubara as a witness or mentions him, the Governor’s immunity under section 308 of the constitution could pose a challenge. “Will you be allowed to present yourself before the panel? How will that be neutral?” Okocha asked.
