Hon Mbachu statements. “One Particular Thing About Us, Igbos Is Once We See Anything About Agitation, We Withdraw”

Anambra State Assembly member Hon. Henry Mbachu recently discussed his concerns with Channels Television over the effects of the South-East sit-at-home orders and the role played by Igbo leaders in the ongoing agitation led by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>

Mbachu said that many Igbo leaders were reluctant to get involved in the fight for self-determination. “One particular thing about us in Igbo land is that once we see anything about agitation, we withdraw,” he said. Mbachu claims that because of this alleged retreat, IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu is now the only spokesperson for the movement, lacking the support and guidance of important Igbo political players.

Mbachu drew a comparison between the circumstances in the South-East and the participation of Yoruba leaders in the agitation spearheaded by Yoruba Nation movement supporter Sunday Igboho. “Sunday Igboho was also there,” Mbachu said, “but the leaders of Yoruba Nation were part of Sunday Igboho’s agitation.” Mbachu claims that the movement received protection and direction from the active participation of Yoruba leaders, which he believes is absent from the IPOB-led conflict in the South-East.

According to Mbachu, the lack of significant leadership participation in IPOB’s operations has let the movement slip into the hands of uncontrollable forces. “The leader should be involved in IPOB matters and provide guidance and protection. He pointed to the unforeseen repercussions of the movement’s lack of leadership by saying, “Now it’s in the hands of people we can’t actually control.”

Mbachu’s remarks shed light on the intricate relationships between Igbo elites and the IPOB movement, particularly in light of the sit-at-home orders that have slowed down social and economic activity throughout the Southeast. These orders, which were first given in protest for Kanu’s release, have subsequently grown to be a source of anxiety and stress in the area as they are frequently carried out violently by unidentified parties.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
