Muyiwa Adejobi, the Nigeria Police Force Public Relations Officer, revealed Thursday morning that a large number of police officers and other security personnel stationed along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway’s Long Bridge are phony and there to carry out unlawful tasks. Adejobi revealed this on his X handle in response to a post made by a man who claimed that police officers and mobile police officers enjoy using flashlights to flag down trucks and obstructing traffic on the Long Bridge inward toward Berger.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>

Responding to the post however, Adejobi told him that many of them are fake policemen and security agents who do illegal duties of escorting goods and some vehicles, adding that the police authorities don’t know them and did not deploy them there.
He added that those that are on official duty along the Long Bridge protect lives and property as well as rendering help to Nigerians along the bridge.
He wrote: “Many of them are fake policemen and security agents. Don’t patronize them. They are always there along the bridge and that route to do illegal duties. The Commissioner of Police, Ogun State, has been contacted on this.
“They do illegal duty of escorting goods and some vehicles. We don’t know them, we didn’t deploy them there. Those that are on official duties protect lives and property. They render help to Nigerians along the bridge and people can testify. We are looking into their issue again.”
It is not unusual to see some policemen and other security operatives standing on the Long Bridge and waiting for vehicles carrying goods which they enter and serve as ‘escorts’ so that those vehicles will not be stopped by security operatives when they arrive Lagos State.
