Wike went on to express his appreciation to those who fought alongside him, urging them to align themselves with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), the party he joined after his exit from the PDP. As FCT Minister, Wike spoke confidently about the backing he now enjoys at the federal level, attributing it to his decision to align with President Bola Tinubu during the 2023 presidential election.
“I have no regrets supporting President Tinubu,” Wike stated boldly. He made it clear that his alliance with Tinubu was a calculated and deliberate move, one he is proud of, especially now that he holds a significant federal position. His endorsement of the APC has, according to him, strengthened his influence and allowed him to maintain a strong connection to the political landscape in Rivers State.

He implied that the influence they wield remains potent, especially in securing the interests of Rivers State under Tinubu’s administration. “When Tinubu stops viewing Rivers State as an asset through us, then it’s over,” Wike remarked, underscoring his belief in the strategic importance of Rivers State in national politics.
