Reflecting on his time as a member of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Wike did not shy away from addressing the challenges and opposition he faced. He acknowledged that his firm stance on what he believed was right led to numerous confrontations, but he remained resolute in his convictions. “Rivers people stood by me,” he said, his tone filled with pride. “They stood on the path of justice, equity, and tranquility, which I claimed was my strongest doing.”

Wike went on to express his appreciation to those who fought alongside him, urging them to align themselves with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), the party he joined after his exit from the PDP. As FCT Minister, Wike spoke confidently about the backing he now enjoys at the federal level, attributing it to his decision to align with President Bola Tinubu during the 2023 presidential election.

“I have no regrets supporting President Tinubu,” Wike stated boldly. He made it clear that his alliance with Tinubu was a calculated and deliberate move, one he is proud of, especially now that he holds a significant federal position. His endorsement of the APC has, according to him, strengthened his influence and allowed him to maintain a strong connection to the political landscape in Rivers State.

Wike further emphasized his and his allies’ role as custodians of Rivers State’s assets, despite no longer holding the office of governor. He implied that the influence they wield remains potent, especially in securing the interests of Rivers State under Tinubu’s administration. “When Tinubu stops viewing Rivers State as an asset through us, then it’s over,” Wike remarked, underscoring his belief in the strategic importance of Rivers State in national politics.

The former governor also stressed that the support he and his team command from Rivers State is formidable. He hinted at the significant number of followers ready to back their political choices, thereby reaffirming their relevance and influence.

Wike’s remarks highlight his enduring political clout and his determination to stay relevant in both Rivers State and national politics. His message to his supporters was clear: stay the course with the APC, where he believes the power to protect Rivers State’s interests now resides.

As Wike continues his role as FCT Minister, his loyalty to his state and his political alliances remain as strong as ever, positioning him as a key player not only in Rivers State but also on the national stage. Whether his assertions will shape future political landscapes remains to be seen, but one thing is certain—Wike’s political journey is far from over.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
