25 Lawmakers Defect:Wike said if you leave your party to another party you must leave your seat—According to Igbe

Anabs Former Governor Nyesom Wike, according to Rivers Elders Forum member Sara Igbe, has previously stated that he believed elected people shouldn’t be allowed to retain their seats if they change parties after winning. CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>

Igbe made this statement in a recent interview with Silverbird TV while speaking about the defection of 25 lawmakers from PDP to APC in Rivers State. Igbe also argued that when voters cast their ballots, they are essentially supporting a political party, not an individual, therefore, if an official leaves the party they were elected under, the vote is no longer considered the individual’s, as it was granted to the party.

In Igbe’s words: “Nyesom Wike said if you leave your party to another party you must leave your seat. The vote was not given to an individual, the vote was given to a party.
