After former Governor Nyesom Wike chastised Governor Siminalayi Fubara for presenting Rivers State’s 2024 budget to only four members of the State House of Assembly, Obio/Akpor LGA chairman Chijioke Ihunwo responded.In a video recently shared by Symfoni TV, Ihunwo said that when Wike was governor in 2016 and Rt Hon Adams Dabotorudima was Speaker of the Rivers House of Assembly, the assembly only had seven members after a court ruling sacked about 20 lawmakers.
Ihunwo said despite the smaller number of lawmakers, Wike was able to present the state budget to them, and no one raised concerns at the time. He said Wike also had commissioners screened and sworn in during that period. He questioned why Wike was now criticizing Fubara for doing something similar.
In Ihunwo’s exact words: “When in 2016 Rt Hon Adams Dabotorudima was Speaker of the State House of Assembly we had 7 members in that assembly. About 20 others lost their seats in Appeal Court.
