Why Nyesom Wike Refused To Support Him For The Edo Governorship Election, Asue Ighodalo Reveals

Asue Ighodalo, the Edo PDP governorship candidate, has disclosed the reason behind Nyesom Wike’s refusal to endorse him. He mentioned that Wike had declared he would not meddle in the Edo governorship race and would instead concentrate on his own work as a minister. He made it clear that the FCT Minister never said he wouldn’t support them during their meeting and that it was entirely up to him if he had changed his mind. He said in an interview with Channels TV, ”You know sometimes when gentlemen talk in some kind of privacy in nature arrangement, we don’t voice out what has been said. It is not correct that Governor Wike said he wasn’t going to support us. But events may have overtaken his decision at that point and he’s free change to mind. But I believe as a gentleman that he would have adhere to the word he gave me.

But if he has changed his mind, so be it. When he and I spoke, we spoke on issues around governance around Nigeria. and issues around how we can create a better country. And we spoke about Edo state and at the end of the day, we ended the conversations at a point where he said he will mind his business and Edo state is not part of his business. But again if he decided to change his mind that he is free but the decision as to who become the most governor of Edo state is the decision of the Edo people.
