We Need To Feed Ourselves, It Is A Shame For People Like Ukraine In War To Be Giving Us Food–According to Bago

The governor of Niger State, Mohammed Umar Bago, agreed with Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, who denounced Nigeria for taking food help from the war-torn Ukraine, according to a story published by Sahara reporters. Governor Bago endorsed Obi’s statement, acknowledging, “We have no reason to be poor.” Emphasizing the need for self-sufficiency, he highlighted the contradiction of Nigeria, a nation rich in resources, relying on aid from conflict-ridden countries like Ukraine. He stressed the importance of national productivity, condemning dependence on handouts and palliatives.

Asserting the necessity for Nigeria to be self-reliant, Governor Bago affirmed, “It is time we tell ourselves the basic truth. We need to feed ourselves.” He echoed Obi’s sentiment that sustainable development and poverty alleviation demand a shift towards domestic production and economic empowerment, rather than dependence on external assistance.

Backing Obi’s stance, Governor Bago said that “It is time we tell ourselves the basic truth. We need to feed ourselves. It is a shame for people like Ukraine in war to be giving us food.”

The governor added that “Nigeria needs to be productive. You cannot be out of poverty unless you start to produce. I’m not an advocate of handouts and palliative. I don’t believe in it.” CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
