We flew over Boko Haram’s camp with plane and dropped leaflets containing Quranic interpretation—According to CDS

 

The Chief of Defense Staff, General Christopher Musa, has described how the military employed psychological tactics to persuade certain Boko Haram fighters to give up. General Musa stated in a video released by Symfoni TV that religious leaders assisted Boko Haram by educating them about the actual teachings of the Quran and other religious scriptures.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>

According to him, the pamphlets featured these sentiments as well as images of Boko Haram militants who had turned themselves in and were receiving favorable treatment.

General Musa explained that the military used airplanes to fly over Boko Haram locations and drop the leaflets. He said many of the Boko Haram terrorists who eventually surrendered brought the leaflets with them. He said this method helped convince more fighters to lay down their arms voluntarily.

In General Musa’s words: “Psychologically what we did again is we had leaflets, we had religious leaders that were able to interpret the Quran and other religious things, the truth about them. We write these leaflets in different languages, in Hausa and Fulani and everything. We used our airplanes and flew over their locations and dropped those leaflets with pictures. A lot of them that surrendered came with those leaflets saying look I saw this. So it encouraged them to come out on their own (sic)”.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
