Jummai Mutah, a Chibok schoolgirl who was rescued, has said that the late Abubakar Shekau, the leader of Boko Haram, was upset because soldiers had captured his foot soldiers. She also disclosed how the rebels tricked them by promising to let them go back to their parents if they converted to Islam. She claimed that when they consented to convert, they were informed that before they could return home, they had to learn how to read the Quran.

She said in an interview with Channels TV, ”They deceived us that when we convert to Islam, they will bring us back to our parents. So we agreed to convert to their religion but they said we do not know how to read Quran. And that they want to keep us until we learn that. We figured out that it was a deceit and we told them we were no longer interested. And that we want to go back home.

They started maltreating us. They said they didn’t catch us because of religion but because of what the government had done to them. Shekau told us he was angry because the soldiers are arresting his children and jailing them. He said the Chibok girls represent their children who are in prison.”

Abubakar Shekau was a Kanuri terrorist who was the leader of Boko Haram, a Nigeria Islamist militant group from 2009 to 2021. Shekau announced the abduction of 276 Nigerian school girls in a video in May 2014. Shekau backed a bloody jihad of campaign in videos that drew comparisons to Osama Bin Laden in 2012. And since he took charge of the Boko Haram group, over 30,000 people have been killed and over two million people have been displaced from their home.

Fortunately for Nigeria in 2021, Shekau died while detonating explosives on himself after a battle between the ISWAP group and the Boko Haram. The ISWAP fighters had hunted him down and offered him the chance to join them but Shekau refused and blew himself up. CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
