During an interview with Obiora Ilo on Signature TV, Edochie emphasized that such actions are essential for the advancement of a nation. His words: “We are talking about handshake across the Niger. The Governor of Enugu State employed I think a Yoruba man to be in charge of the broadcasting house. A few days ago, a Yoruba man in Anambra was promoted to permanent secretary. That is exactly what handshake across the Niger means. People keep shouting about restructuring, nobody ever sits down to tell you what restructuring is all about. It’s always in their heads. They just say it because others are saying it. Somebody who is born in the North should be able to contest any office in the North in spite of his religion. That is how a country progresses.
