The Rivers Crisis Gets Worse as Tony Okocha’s Group Holds the State APC Congress in Rivers Despite a Court Order

In Rivers State, the All Progressives Congress (APC) faction led by Tony Okocha has held its state congress in contravention of a court ruling that forbids the national leadership of the party from holding any congresses in the state.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>

APC national chairman Abdullahi Ganduje and the party were earlier prohibited from holding elective congresses for the Rivers chapter without the participation of the claimants in an ongoing legal matter by an ex parte decision issued by the Rivers State High Court in Port Harcourt.

However, the Okocha faction proceeded with the congress at their factional secretariat along the Port Harcourt-Aba Expressway.

According to Daily Post, the Chairman of the Congress Planning Committee dissolved the Caretaker Committee (CTC) to facilitate new leadership elections.

Key APC figures in attendance included South-South National Vice Chairman, Chief Victor Giadom, Chidi Wihioka, Ephraim Nwuzi, Magnus Abe, and Tony Okocha.

The leadership struggle within Rivers APC remains unresolved, with the Beke-led executive loyal to former Governor Rotimi Amaechi and Okocha’s faction aligned with former Governor Nyesom Wike.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
