Moses Lohor, the leader of the state’s Police Anti-Kidnapping Squad, was arrested by Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke after he allegedly attempted to kill Wakeel Nurudeen Iyanda Alowonle, the chairman of the Osun State Transport Management System. According to Daily Post, the controversy erupted on Monday night when Alowonle was reportedly shot by Lohor’s team after they alleged that he attempted to flee following the discovery of a pistol and ammunition in his car.
However, the Osun State government has disputed this account, describing the shooting as an act of murder.
According to a statement from the state’s Commissioner for Information, Kolapo Alimi, Alowonle was shot in the abdomen at the police station after his arrest, where he remains in critical condition at the Osun State Teaching Hospital.
Samuel Ojo, the Governor’s Special Adviser on Security, condemned Lohor’s actions, calling them unprofessional and illegal.
He further confirmed that Lohor and his team had been transferred to Abuja for further investigation.
